You won’t believe what happened to me just recently. People who know me personally will just nod and think – Yep that’s our Mimi! But I do try and keep these goofy traits hidden from my professional life. Really, I don’t want everyone to know how many lamp posts I’ve walked into. LOL
This, though, I have to share. I decided to hire a book tour group who were going to do a release for me on Special Agent Francesca. They asked for the cover of the new book for the cover reveal bloggers they’d lined up, which I proudly sent. Then I brushed my hands and decided that I was a genius to have chosen to have someone else do this work. As usual, I have a gazillion things on the go, besides desperately trying to finish another book for the Vicarage Bench Series called Together Always. My editor’s expecting it very soon and I still have my final read-through and more revisions to do. So, I was glad that I had others dealing with the reveal and the release day.
Then I get a frantic e-mail from the tour lady. “Mimi, there’s no author name on your book cover!”
Whaaa!??
Come on…!! This can’t be happening to me. Desperate, I get in touch with the artist and explain that when we made changes in the font color, gee…we forgot one tiny detail. Now this guy is a pro and has always been super-fast and easy to deal with, so I knew he’d get me a new cover ASAP. Except, he didn’t! I kept e-mailing and no reaction. Ok-ay, now this was getting kinda weird. Finally he got through to me on Facebook and said that he’d sent me multi e-mails and I obviously wasn’t getting them.
Go figure, the one day I wanted things to work and my doggone angels needed some attitude adjustments. Needless to say, we did get the cover straightened out. When I realised the date this had all happened on – April 1st – we had the perfect out. April fool’s day. Am I lucky or not???
