If you’re religious and love celebrating special days, this is the weekend you’ll be happy… the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
If you love having family around, to share a meal and spend time together, Easter is a good excuse for doing so also.
But… if the child in you is still functioning in any way, it’s the day that you can have as much chocolate as you can eat without guilt.
As a child, I remember my mother would arrange for each of us kids to have a basket full of jelly beans, colored Easter eggs coated in candy and of course the chocolate bunny in the middle. It was the one day when she wouldn’t force rules. When we could eat our treats when we wanted and not be forced to mete out our cache over the day… or even two.
You’d think we would gorge on our candy and chocolate until we’d finished the works and you’d be right. Didn’t every little kid who seldom got sweets eat their loot as fast as they could? I know we did. And my dad would be right in there with us, bumming a share, which we’d all happily hand over.
What we didn’t know was that mom had her own secret hoard in the kitchen. I mean, let’s face it – who made up the baskets – right? I only found out that secret when it was my turn to play the Easter bunny. 🙂
Here’s hoping that your family celebrates together and that you have a wonderful day and… you get your share of Easter sweets too. And maybe, while you’re at it, take a few minutes to give thanks for the good things in life.
