Are you kidding me? It’s more than one book, right? In itself, that makes it harder.
Settling down here….phew! That just came outta nowhere. Sorry, LOL!
But seriously, I’ve been asked that question a lot lately – probably because right now I’m working on The Mob Tracker Series and its 4 books. Books that are all tied together toward one ending – my heroine finding her brother’s killers.
Is it hard to keep on track?
You bet your sweet patoodie it’s hard. I mean talk about saggy middle! You’ve got 4 books with middles and… a series that you can’t drop the ball on either. Each book has to be better than the last so you won’t lose your readers. Especially when there’s a time period in-between that means they have to wait.
My fabulous plans for this set were to have each book follow the other with a pre-order ready at the back so they could click “buy” to be assured they’d get the next book – kind get ‘em while it’s hot sort of thing.
It was a great plan!
Yep –sure was!
Then life kicked me in the butt and it all fell apart. Between my mom’s passing, a summer full of company and various trips that were unexpected, my schedule got all screwed up. Not complaining. That’s life!
Did I deal well with all that extra stress? I’m not sure. One thing I do know – in book #2, my hero losses his mother… hmmm? I guess authors have to handle life’s blows as we write and maybe it was my way to process my tragedy. All I know is this – writing my Undercover FBI standalones – when I finish the story., that’s it.
Not so with the series.
Wanna know a little secret though?
It’s so friggin’ exciting to be able to put my characters through multiple ringers and let them grow past the normal 60K words.
In fact, it’s SWEET!!
Book #3 in the series has just been released called “Sweet Resolution”.
***Book #4 – the final one – is on the drafting table now with release plans for Nov!
