My book Special Agent Jennie is now released, and this time, I met Amazon’s deadline with only 3 hours and 12 minutes left on the clock. Gulp!!
When authors publish a book and choose to place it on a preorder with Amazon, they warn you that the book must be completely updated three days before the date you choose as the release date. If one is late, Amazon will rescind your preorder privileges for a year. I know. Way back, I screwed up and… yep! They followed through with their threat and punished me for 12 months.
My problem is that I always figure I have lots of time and usually I do. My editor is an angel and works with me, puts up with my awful schedule, and I try hard not to put her through the panic such as we just experienced. It’s like I figure I’m a robot and can do all this rewriting and editing in a flash whereas it takes a lot longer than one expects… especially if you’re fussy like me. I want everything perfect.
My only excuse is that I went a bit crazy after the pandemic lifted and traveled a lot more than I usually would. It was just so nice to visit family and escape the bubble.
But now I’m back home and sharing my new release with as many folks as I can. I loved writing this book focused on a theme that I feel needs a lot of attention in today’s world. And that is the way some people are behaving. I’m talking about terrorists and hate crimes. It’s a delicate subject… I hope I treated it well.
